The Way Station

This model was a display of architectural language that involved interlocking masses and planes. The parti of the model was to create a dissolution of the boundaries between the known inside space and the surrounding area. The model was created and broken into a section cut through the center mass allowing for a more detailed view into the interior space. The layering was primarily implemented on the roof of the section where the planes interlocked with the front facade to appear continuous on towards the roof section. The layering of planes on the roof creates a quality of natural light inside of the top floor of the structure. The function of the construct was to create a natural flow through out the many spaces, in this the surrounding area is exposed through the many openings, drawing in the environment.
