My concept for an addition to the Porto school of architecture all started from the Carlos Ramos pavilion, including the existing landscape. I originally started with an entrance that had a direct link to the Carlos Ramos pavilion; this took shape in the form of an extruded cube projecting itself towards the southern exit. This entrance leads you into the seminar room. The seminar room has a large glass façade with a view past the existing buildings on the site directly towards the bay. This room is attached to a courtyard with a stair set that leads you up into the Studio Space. The studio has two entirely open sides that give the occupants a direct view into the trees canopies. From the studio a library emerges with a grand view into the garden space. The library then leads you into the storage space that is capped off at the end of the floor. This bends off into the balcony area overlooking the courtyard which the entire building revolves around.
