The Lincoln Road Library was designed to relate directly to the surrounding area, projecting its floors out in the direction of the water taking advantage of the winds
direction cooling off the inhabitants of the balconies. Also the structure is lifted 9’ off the ground level providing shade from the intense mid-day heat. Likewise, the core of the building is extracted connecting the inhabitants through the ability to watch each other commute. The structure is intended to be transparent in reference to its method of travel; hence the stairwell is exposed, along with all hallways including the reading area. From the ground level, the structure appears to be building on itself with each floor extending farther outwards from the next.
